Uzbek president Islam Karimov signed a decree “On further reforming and development of the insurance services market” on 10 April 2007.

According to the document, Uzbekistan will establish the Association of Professional Participants of the Insurance Market.

The initiative has come from the Ministry of Finance and some local insurance companies. There is no information about who will head the association.

At present, there is only one insurance association in Uzbekistan – the Union of Motor Insurers.
