Uzbekistan Farmers Association abolished
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree “On measures on further improving organizational activity and developing farming in Uzbekistan” on 22 October 2012.

Uzbek leader Islam Karimov approved decision of the conference of Uzbekistan Farmers Association on abolishment of the organization. He also agreed with initiative of the farmers on creation of Uzbekistan Farmers Council, Karakalakstan Farmers Council and Farmers Council of regions and districts.

The main tasks of the councils are to develop proposals on improving legislation in farming, strengthening material and financial base of farmers, ensuring reliable protection of their property.

The council will also protect rights and interests of farmers, including in their relations with state bodies, vendors and services organizations, as well as courts.

They also conduct public control over reorganization and creation of farms, and allocation of lands to them. The council will also help to create and expand consulting centers, which will render legal, economic, financial and other assistance to farmers.

Uzbek President also presented right to council to appeal decisions of state and economic bodies at courts without paying state duty.

Islam Karimov also agreed with the proposal of specialized republican commission on abolishment of Fund on support of farm and dehkan entities under the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan and proposal of the Ministry of Finance on repayment of loans, attracted from foreign financial institutions, due to resources of the fund.

Other part of the Fund’s resources, refinanced by commercial banks, will be directed to increase share of the government in Agrobank. Ministry of Finance will increase its share in Agrobank.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov also determined main tasks of the Government of Uzbekistan, Councils of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, regional and district administrations. President said that they should focus on improving legislation on further developing and strengthening renting relations in rural, protecting rights and interests of farmers, etc.

Their efforts should be also directed at improving sustainability of farmers, stimulate rational use of land and water resources, introduction of new technologies, etc.
