Uzbekistan establishes the “Excellence in Seismic Safety” badge

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from 13 September 2023, the badge “Excellence in Seismic Safety” was established.

The badge recognizes individuals who have made a worthy contribution to the development of the field of seismology, seismic resistance of structures, and ensuring seismic safety of the population and territories.

Proposals and necessary documents for awarding badges are submitted annually before 15 September to the commission at the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. In this case, when selecting candidates, the commission takes into account:

participation in the development of the main directions of state policy and state programs in the field of seismic safety;

contribution to the development of seismology, seismic resistance of buildings and ensuring seismic safety of lands and territories;

participation in the widespread introduction of modern information technologies and innovative technologies in the field of seismic safety;

participation in eliminating the consequences of strong earthquakes;

participation in the study of the seismic reliability of buildings and structures, assessment of their seismic vulnerability and drawing up appropriate conclusions;

publication of monographs, textbooks and manuals in the field of seismic safety;

participation in regular assessment of seismicity in areas of exploited reservoirs, oil and gas fields, etc.

The badge and its certificate are solemnly presented by the President of the Academy of Sciences (or other responsible persons on his behalf) annually on the eve of October 13 - International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

Those awarded the badge are paid a monetary reward in the amount of 4 sizes of basic estimated value.
