Uzbekistan establishes diplomatic relations with Nauru

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Republic of Nauru has become the 159th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations, according to the Dunyo news agency.

A Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic ties between Uzbekistan and Nauru was signed in New York. The document was signed on behalf of the two governments by Ulugbek Lapasov, Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, and Lara Erab Daniel, Nauru's Permanent Representative to the UN.

Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and its specialized agencies. They also agreed to expand bilateral contacts to explore mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields.

The signing of the communiqué marks an important step in expanding Uzbekistan’s international partnerships.

Nauru, located in the Pacific Ocean, is the smallest independent republic in the world.

It is worth noting that on 21 February, Uzbekistan also established diplomatic relations with Suriname, a South American country.
