Uzbekistan develops projects for US$995m to improve water supply
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan developed 33 investment projects on improvement of water supply to population for US$995 million. The projects cover all regions of the Central Asian state.

The projects were developed by Uzkommunhizmat (Uzbek Communal Services) in cooperation with regional administrations.

Preliminary feasibility studies on five projects for US$138.2 million have been approved and the works are carried out to speed up their realization.

One of the projects is directed to improve water supply in Ferghana city, Margilan city and neighbouring settlements. It is expected that resources of the Chinese government will be attracted to realize this project for US$45 million.

Chinese government will also finance three projects, including project on reconstruction of sewerage systems of Namangan city for US$25 million, project on reconstruction of offtake facilities at Chinaz, Zangata, Tashkent and Yangiyul districts of Tashkent region for US$26 million. Third project is reconstruction and expansion of sewerage systems in Chirchiq city of Tashkent region for US$5.2 million.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will finance US$37 million project on improvement of water supply and sanitation in Surkhandarya. As earlier reported, ADB allocated US$30 million to finance this projects.
