The programme on further reforming of banking system in 2016-2020 will envisage further improving efficiency of the banking activities and level of financial mediation in economy, strengthening financial sustainability and liquidity of banks in line with international standards, improving quality of banking assets and credit portfolio, as well as developing system of banking risks assessment.

The document will also envisage measures on expanding spectrum and quality of rendered banking services with introduction of modern ICT and develop private banks, as well as decreasing state share in the capital of the banks.

Within the programme, it is planned to adopt measures on further improving legislative base of the banking activities and improving financial awareness of population, etc.

It is expected that realization of new programme in conjunction with favourable macroeconomic conditions will help to achieve high economic growth and strengthening financial sustainability of the banking system of Uzbekistan, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.
