Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is set to participate in the 29th session of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP29), which will be held from 11 to 22 November 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Uzbekistan will present a unique national pavilion designed to resemble a traditional Uzbek courtyard, or hovli, highlighting cultural elements, traditions, and sustainable technologies. Green plants and traditional construction materials recreating the courtyard’s atmosphere will emphasize environmental responsibility and sustainability.
During COP29, Uzbekistan’s delegation plans to host over 20 events, including:
- The official signing of the International Youth Strategy in partnership with the Zamin Foundation and presentations on environmental education projects.
- A session of the Turkic Ecological Forum with ministers from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
- An event on the Silk Road Declaration on Climate Migration, implemented jointly with Azerbaijan and International Organization for Migration (IOM) member states.
- A Multilateral Trust Fund event for the Aral Sea region, organized with the support of UNDP.
Uzbekistan will also actively engage in discussions on climate, finance, innovation, agriculture, health, and biodiversity, while conducting bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at signing agreements with international partners.
