Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 1 October 2024, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, visited Yerevan to participate in the regular meeting of the Council of Prime Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as an observer.
The meeting was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Ines Maria Chapman via video conference and the honorary guest, First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Orefi.
In his speech, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov noted that the economic reforms conducted under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are yielding high results.
Uzbekistan places great importance on establishing mutually beneficial economic cooperation within the framework of the EAEU and is consistently working to deepen trade relations with the Union states.
In recent years, there has been significant growth in cargo transport volumes and tourist travel between our countries, with the number of regular flights doubling and the volume of mutual trade actively increasing.
Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with the EAEU states increased by 12% in the first eight months of this year, amounting to US$11.4 billion.
Interregional partnership ties are successfully developing, large projects for transportation infrastructure development are being implemented, and new joint ventures are being established.
The total number of companies with EAEU capital participation in Uzbekistan has reached 4,500.
It was noted that promising projects are being implemented with the Union states in areas such as investment, energy, metallurgy, machine engineering, electronics, agriculture, logistics, and the textile industry.
Special attention was given to the mutually beneficial agreements reached in accordance with the initiatives proposed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the last meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
At the end of the meeting, a plan for joint activities between the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission for 2024-2026 was signed.
