Uzbekistan Delegation Meets IOC President Kirsty Coventry in Singapore
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Singapore, during the World Aquatics Championships, a delegation from Uzbekistan met with Kirsty Coventry, President of the International Olympic Committee, and James Macleod, Director of Olympic Solidarity and Head of the NOC Relations Department at the IOC.
The talks were attended by Minister of Sports Adkham Ikramov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee and First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva, as well as NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov.
At the beginning of the meeting, Kirsty Coventry received sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Uzbek side expressed deep appreciation for her significant contribution to the development of the International Olympic Movement and wished her continued success.
Coventry congratulated Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva on her election to the Bureau of the Executive Committee of World Aquatics. Drawing on her experience as a former professional athlete, she highlighted the importance of this position and shared her recommendations.
To familiarize herself with the current progress of the Olympic Movement in Uzbekistan and to discuss prospects for cooperation, Kirsty Coventry was invited to visit the country at a time convenient for her.
