Uzbekistan Delegation Discusses Prospects for Economic Cooperation in Austrian Parliament
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new chapter has opened in relations between Uzbekistan and Austria following meetings held in Vienna.
A delegation led by Davronbek Kurbanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, held productive talks in the Austrian Parliament.
The negotiations were attended by Karl Renner, head of the Austrian People’s Democratic Party faction, and Günter Fehlinger, member of the Austrian Economic Chamber. The delegation was accompanied by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Austria Bakhtiyor Ibragimov.
At the start of the talks, Kurbanov noted that during the visit a number of meetings had been held with organizations supporting Austrian businesses, resulting in important agreements.
Karl Renner, for his part, spoke about the history of Austrian parliamentarism and the legislative process. He also praised Uzbekistan’s recent economic reforms and stressed Austria’s support for the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
One of the most notable proposals for economic cooperation came from Günter Fehlinger, who highlighted Uzbekistan’s strong potential for exporting high-quality dried fruits, which could enjoy strong demand on the Austrian market.
The Uzbek side welcomed the proposal, with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressing readiness to assist Austrian partners in identifying reliable local producers and resolving project-related issues.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop bilateral relations.
In particular, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Austrian Economic Chamber, and official bodies of both countries reached an understanding on boosting trade turnover and deepening economic cooperation.
