Uzbekistan defeats Lebanon in World Cup 2014 qualifiers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan national team claimed a 1-0 victory of Lebanon and moved atop of the Group A of the fourth round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ qualifiers on Tuesday, 26 March 2013.

The match has been held at newly constructed Bunyodkor stadium in Tashkent. Mirjalal Kasimov’s side clinched a difficult victory over Lebanon despite domination in the match.

Uzbekistan controlled the match in the first half and created several dangerous moments. Lebanon only had one chance in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Mirjalal Kasimov made several changes. Oleg Zoteev and Farhad Tajiev replaced Jasur Khasanov and Artyom Filiposyan. The substitutes improved play of the Uzbek team in attack and on 63 minutes Server Djeperov netted only goal of the match.

After scoring the goal, Uzbekistan had several chances to double the lead, but they could not convert chances into goals. In the result, the match ended with the 1-0 score.

Uzbekistan moved to the top of the Group A with 11 points after six matches. South Korea has 10 points after five matches.

Iran (five matches) and Qatar (six matches) have seven points. Lebanon is on last place in the group with four points after six matches.
