Uzbekistan defeats Iran to top Group A of World Cup qualifiers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan national team topped the Group A of the fourth round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after claiming famous a 1-0 victory over Iran at Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

Uzbekistan striker Ulugbek Bakoev scored the only goal of the match on 71 minutes after good delivery of skipper Server Djeperov.

It is worth to mention that forward of Kazakhstani club Irtish Ulugbek Bakoev was named as the Man of the Match.

It is the first victory of Uzbekistan over Iran as the Central Asian nation could not defeat Iran in their previous encounters.

After the victory, Mirdjalal Kasimov side collected eight points and topped the Group A. Iran, South Korea and Qatar have seven points. Lebanon is on last place with four points.
