Uzbekistan decides not to withdraw from Central Asian power grid
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has canceled its decision to quit the Central Asian power grid, Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company KEGOC spokesman Marat Muhamedsaliev.

"The Uzbek energy company Uzbekenergo has canceled its decision to withdraw from the Central Asian power grid. Such decision was made after the agreements reached with Kyrgyzstan," Muhamedsaliev said.

Last week KEGOC received notification from Uzbekistan about its plan to withdraw from the Central Asian power grid. Then the second notification was received saying that Uzbekistan would withdraw from the Central Asian power grid on 17 October.

Experts believe this decision could result in shortage of electricity in some parts of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
