Uzbekistan collects over 3.4m tonnes of raw cotton
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan collected over 3.4 million tonnes of raw cotton this year, the Uzbek President Islam Karimov said in his congratulation message to cotton-growers of the country.

President Islam Karimov underlined with satisfaction that the share of raw cotton, which was received as first grade, made up about 90%.

The yield growth this year rose by 4% year-on-year and reached to 26.3 metric centner per hectare, the Uzbek head said.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov highly rated work of cotton-growers of Navoi region, Karakalpakstan Republic, Andijan region, Surkhandarya region, Kashkadarya region and Bukhara region, who fulfilled their contractual obligations in short term.

Islam Karimov also underlined high figures in Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Navoi regions, which delivered 90-94% of raw cotton as first grade, while Shakhrisabz, Kasan, Vabkent, Karaulbazar, Kyzyltepa, Amudarya, Narpay, Qumqurgan, Sariosiyo districts delivered 94-97% of raw cotton as first grade.

Some farms in Uzbekistan collected 45-50 and more centners of raw cotton per hectare, which is an important milestone in the history of cotton-growing of Uzbekistan, President Islam Karimov said.

Uzbek leader underlined that total income from cotton-growing will rose by 35% year-on-year to over 2 trillion soums this year.
