Uzbekistan clinches first medal of World Summer Universiade
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan national team claimed the first medal of the World Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Judoka Soib Kurbanov won the first medal of Uzbekistan at the World Summer Universiade. He won bronze medal in weight category of 100 kg.

Soib Kurbanov will receive 20 million soums (about US$9,550) as prize money and his coach will get 10 million soums (about US$4,770).

About 55 athletes from Uzbekistan are participating at the 27th World Summer Universiade, which takes place in Kazan on 6-17 July 2013.

Athletes from Uzbekistan defend honour of Uzbekistan in such sports as boxing, belbog’li kurash, rhythmic gymnastics, canoe and rowing, judo, sambo, weightlifting and athletics, as well as freestyle and Greek-roman wrestling.

Over 10,500 athletes from 162 countries of the world will compete for 351 sets of medals on 27 types of sports.
