The index was calculated for the first time in 2015. The index takes into account 11 figures, which were divided into three groups: sporting achievements of clubs and national teams, football popularity and conditions for football development.
Uzbekistan is third in this index among the CIS states after Russia (20th place) and Ukraine (33rd place).
Azerbaijan (77), Belarus (82), Kazakhstan (94), Georgia (101), Lithuania (112), Armenia (120), Moldova (126), Latvia (135), Kyrgyzstan (138), Tajikistan (149) and Turkmenistan (189) were placed after Uzbekistan.
Germany topped the index. France and the Netherlands were the second and third respectively.
