Uzbekistan and China agreed on Monday on principles of construction and exploration of gas pipeline between countries. The pipeline’s capacity will be 30 billion cubic metres.

A delegation of China led by chairman of National Development and Reform Commission Ma Kai met the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov in Tashkent on 30 April.

The sides noted gradual development of trade-economic relations between Uzbekistan and China, in particular in oil, gas and energy sectors and information communication sphere.

The Uzbek side gave detailed information on priority directions of attraction of foreign investments in economy of Uzbekistan, privatization processes, reforms in economy, development of small and private business.

The sides discussed issues on further development and strengthening of cooperation in oil, gas and mining spheres, transport and communication, high technologies, energy, machinery, as well as joint development and realization of new projects. The sides exchanged opinion on study and use of idle opportunities for development of cooperation.

Ma Kai said the delegation become witness of gradual development of economy, social-cultural and other spheres of life in Uzbekistan. He said China is for further strengthening development of relations and expressed interest in boosting ties in economy.

On the results of the talks, the sides signed several documents, including agreement in principles of construction and exploitation of gas pipeline between Uzbekistan and China. The spread of network will be 530 km and its capacity will be 30 billion cubic metres per year. It is expected that two compression stations will be built within the project.

The sides also signed agreement on joint exploration and development of Mingbulak deposit and agreement on equipment of Uzbek habitations with water meters.
