Uzbekistan builds 8 hydroelectric power plants in 2023

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Eight hydroelectric power stations were built in Uzbekistan in 2023. This was reported by the Uzbekhydroenergo.

According to the company, hydroelectric power stations were built in Tashkent, Andijan, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions. In particular, three large and five micro hydroelectric power stations were built. The total capacity of new hydroelectric power plants is 190 MW.

All work at the Isfara micro-hydroelectric power station-1 in Kizirik district of Surkhandarya region, from design to installation of equipment, was carried out by Uzbek specialists. This plant became the first completely national power plant.

In 2023, Uzbekhydroenergo enterprises generated 7 billion kWh of electricity, which is 8% more than the same period in 2022.

According to Uzbekhydroenergo, the number of hydroelectric power stations in Uzbekistan increased from 35 in 2017 to 58 now. The capacity of hydroelectric power stations increased from 1856 MW to 2233 MW.

Currently, in accordance with the Investment Program, 13 investment projects with a total capacity of 749 MW are at the construction and installation stage.
