The Brussels City Municipality hosted an event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium [on 23 May], Jahon news agency of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.
This day the historical building at the renowned square in Brussels Grand Place has gathered the representatives of parliament and government of Belgium, business, cultural and public circles, and diplomatic corps accredited in Brussels.
While speaking before the gathered the Ambassador of Belgium to Uzbekistan with a residence in Brussels Charles Guillen noted about the successes, which had been secured in the development of bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Belgium for over the past 15 years of cooperation. Ambassador Guillen has also expressed confidence in further extending the mutual understanding between the sides.
He has further drawn attention for the gradual growth of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium, which are of a mutual beneficial nature.
According to Ambassador Guillen, there is an enormous potential in the sphere of tourism. In particular, he has believed that the citizens of Belgium, alongside with historical places of sightseeing and architectural wonders of Uzbekistan, are attracted with an originality of the Uzbek family, the atmosphere of solidarity and hospitality, which reign in it.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Isan Mustafaev spoke on the major stages of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belgium. He has said that there is a mutual interest in further developing and expanding the ties.
The commemoration of the 15th anniversary of relations has also seen the holding of the exhibition on history, culture and contemporary life of Uzbekistan. The national "Lazgi" dancing ensemble performed one of its best repertoire with adding more grace and charm to the event.
Many those who participated at the commemorations had spoken high about it, while having said that it had allowed for them to better learn the Uzbek history and modern stage of development of the country, its potential, culture, and traditions of the Uzbek people.
