Uzbekistan beats Tajikistan to go top of Group C
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan national team defeated 10-man Tajikistan 3-0 in the match of the Group C of the World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Uzbekistan dominated the match, in which Tajikistan was reduced to 10 men only with three minutes left when Eraj Rajabov was sent off for a foul against Alexander Geynrikh.

Winger Sanjar Tursunov opened the scoring in the 34th minute after he received a pass from Temur Kapadze.

Russian Anzhi midfielder Odil Akhmedov doubled the lead of Uzbekistan, when he hit the target from 35 meters in the 60th minute of the match.

Striker Alexander Geynrikh headed in a cross from the right winger Sanjar Tursunov in the 72nd minute of the game.

In the last minute of injury time of the match, Server Djeperov and Geynrikh linked up to score the fourth goal, but it was disallowed for offside.

The victory put Uzbekistan on top of Asia Group C with 13 points. Japan has ten points after it lost 1-0 to North Korea. Japan and Uzbekistan have already advanced to the next round of Asia qualifying. North Korea has six points and Tajikistan – 0.
