Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A late second half surge gave Uzbekistan a 3-2 victory over Korea Republic in Group J of the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ 2023 Qualifiers at the Jar Stadium on Friday.

With the win, Uzbekistan became the first side to qualify for the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ 2023 Finals after coming back from a goal down to overwhelm Korea Republic.

Uzbekistan came into the tie on the back of an emphatic 14-0 victory over Brunei Darussalam but it was Korea Republic who took the first-half lead through Kang Min-woo in the 26th minute.

Yoo Byung-heon gave Uzbekistan a lifeline when he put the ball into his own net in the 71st minute with the forward making amends four minutes later to put Korea Republic back ahead.

The hosts fought back with Lazizbek Mirzaev levelling the tie 81st minute before Mamadalikhon Olimov sealed a thrilling victory with a strike in the 90th minute.

Korea Republic will be aiming to secure a win when they meet Brunei on Sunday with the six best runners-up to also advance to the Finals.
