The decision was adopted in line with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov “On measures for further development of production at Samarkand Automobile Plant and modernization of vehicle flee in the Republic” from 14 December 2006.

The resolution was adopted for further developing and improving competition of buses and trucks, produced in Uzbekistan, upgrading vehicle flee in the country and ensuring security of passenger and cargo transportation, as well as reducing harmful emissions.

The move also supports Samarkand Automobile Plant, which produced buses and trucks in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan allows to import new vehicles of M2, M3 and N2 ecologic categories, petroleum and diesel equipment not below Euro-3 from 1 January 2010.

However, the legal entities and individuals can import special purpose vehicles, indicated at INCOTERMS under codes 8703 and 8705.
