Vice-Premier of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov handed over prizes to Menkov on behalf of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov and the government of Uzbekistan.

Alexander Ponomorev, coach of Menkov, also was awarded with car for his significant contribution to development of canoe and kayak in Uzbekistan.

Vadim Menkov won a gold medal at the men’s C1 100m at the 2009 ICF Senior Canoe Sprint World Championships on Lake Banook in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, 15 August 2009.
