The Uzbek ministry said that the sides discussed current state and perspectives of bilateral cooperation and exchanged opinion on actual international and regional issues.

On the same day, the second round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade was held. The sides expressed mutual interest to deepen bilateral cooperation.

The sides considered issues of expanding trade-economic and investment relations, attracting modern experience and technologies of Australia to agriculture, energy saving technologies, production of equipment for machinery and mining industry, automobile production, implementation of joint projects at Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

Currently, some 10 enterprises with Australian capital are operating in Uzbekistan, while Rio Tinto and Worley Parsons opened their offices in Uzbekistan in 2011.

During the consultations, the sides noted that boosting relations in parliamentarism and cooperation in cultural-humanitarian spheres, tourism, education and scientific studies will help to lift the Uzbek-Australian relations in bilateral and multilateral format to new level.
