Uzbekistan attracts US$270 million in IsDB funds for rural development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan attracted US$270 million in funds from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for the implementation of the project “Comprehensive development of rural areas” (2nd stage).

It should be noted that the Board of Directors of the IDB approved the provision of funds to Uzbekistan in December 2022. The agreement to provide funds was signed in April 2023.

The total cost of the “Comprehensive Rural Development” project (2nd stage) is US$293.5 million. Uzbekistan’s share in this project is US$33.5 million.

The project is being implemented in 157 gatherings of citizens of mahallas in 21 districts of Kashkadarya, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions. The project will be implemented in 2024-2028.

Uzbekistan provides customs benefits for participants in this project.

As part of the project, 20 schools (19 in Samarkand), 14 kindergartens, 10 family doctor offices (all in Samarkand), 200 km of drinking water, 368 km of electrical networks, almost 330 km of roads and 53 transformers will be built.
