Uzbekistan attracts investments for US$2bn in Jan-Sep
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of investments into fixed capital made up 15.3 billion soums in January-September 2012, which grew by 9.8% in comparable prices. The joint statement of the Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan on social-economic development of Uzbekistan in nine months of 2012 said.

The volume of attracted foreign investments and loans made up US$2 billion, of which US$1.6 billion (+9.6 year-on-year) were used, including US$1.3 billion –foreign direct investments.

Measures on stimulation of investment activity of businesses and population helped to increase volume of investments due to resources of enterprises by 10.3% and population – by 23.6%. Speeding up implementation of large strategic production and infrastructure projects allowed to increase volume of investments due to resources of Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan by 1.5 times.

In nine months of 2012, some 106 investment projects were implemented, including on construction of propane-butane fixture facility at Shortanneftegaz (fifth line), construction of gas compressor stations at Navoi thermal power station, organization of production of silicon in Navoi region (first stage), expansion and reconstruction of Kalmakir mine, production of LCD TV-sets at White Machine Technology, reconstruction of Navoi airport, etc.

The statement said that 155 new capacities on production of construction materials have been launched in nine months of 2012. In particular, plant on production of 45,000 tonnes of aerated concrete products was launched in Andijan, Kashkadarya and Syrdarya regions of Uzbekistan. The plant on production of 72,000 square meters of laminated plastic and Medium Density Fibreboards in Tashkent city was opened. The country also launched capacities on production of cement, gypsum boards, sandwich panels, etc. Some 22 enterprises on production of baked brick were modernized.

Overall, in nine months of 2012, Uzbekistan commissioned 882 production objects, including 337 in light industry, 234 in food industry, 189 in construction materials sector, 46 in timber processing, 14 in machinery, 16 in chemistry and 46 in other sectors.
