Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 October 2024, an international conference was held in Tashkent focused on attracting sustainable investments and supporting entrepreneurship.
The event, organized as part of the International Partnership Initiatives Week, gathered over 80 leaders from Uzbek companies and representatives from 15 foreign firms, including Data Volt, Marubeni Corporation, SUEZ, ACWA Power, Masdar, OTP Green Fund, CAMCE, and Vision Invest.
During the conference, Uzbekistan’s achievements in economic development were showcased. Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Akram Aliyev emphasized the significant economic growth the country has experienced from 2017 to 2023. Uzbekistan’s GDP increased from US$60 billion to US$100 billion, while external trade reached US$62.6 billion.
International experts recognized the successful reforms implemented in Uzbekistan to create favorable conditions for foreign investors. Notably, the simplification of procedures and the introduction of competitive tendering processes in key sectors, such as energy and infrastructure, are attracting major businesses.
The conference highlighted Uzbekistan’s ambitious goals under the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, aimed at increasing the role of the private sector in the economy, developing renewable energy sources, and enhancing labor productivity and exports.
Overall, the event demonstrated Uzbekistan’s commitment to sustainable development and attracting foreign investments, promising further economic growth for the country.
