Uzbekistan attract US$56bn of foreign investments into its economy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan invested US$162 billion of capital investments to development of its economy during the independence years, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said on Friday, 6 December 2013.
Speaking at the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Constitution of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov noted that about US$56 billion of them were foreign investments.
Uzbek leader said that the volume of capital investments in dollar equivalent will make up US$14 billion or 23% to the GDP.
According to Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan expects 8.1% growth of the GDP in 2014. During the independence years, the economy of Uzbekistan rose 4.1 times. Annual growth of the GDP in Uzbekistan exceeded 8% in 2008-2013, the President said.
Islam Karimov underlined that during this time, the population of Uzbekistan grew by 9.7 million to almost 30.5 million and the growth rate makes up threefold per capita.
