Uzbekistan attended the World Medical Congress in Paris

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the XXIV World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the International Federation of Gynecology (FIGO). It took place in Paris on 9-12 October.

More than 8,000 delegates representing more than 130 countries took part in this leading and largest global event in the field of gynecology and obstetrics this year.

Uzbekistan at the XXIV FIGO World Congress was represented by specialists from the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health (RSNPMCCHMiR), the chairman and members of the board of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Uzbekistan.

“One of the priority directions of the state policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of health care is protecting the health of mothers and children, strengthening the reproductive health of the population, increasing the availability of medical care, including primary health care, and developing scientific and human resources potential. A number of government programs are being implemented, the results of which should be the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, the country’s specialists are constantly studying the best international practices, which this Congress contributes to,” notes Natalya Nadyrkhanova, board member of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is also actively sharing its own positive experience. In particular, in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, systematic work has been carried out in recent years to develop and implement national guidelines and standards of medical care. They are based on modern scientific evidence and are aimed at unification in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of obstetric and gynecological diseases. This makes it possible to significantly improve the quality of care for women and children and increase positive dynamics in solving the most pressing problems.

During these days, the scientific community at the Paris Convention Center demonstrated its commitment to women’s health and reproductive rights, health equity and social justice.

Over 5 days, about 500 experts shared their best practices, discussions took place in five parallel threads, and public events were held where experts could communicate and exchange opinions. Work also progressed through exhibition booths, dynamic activities including surgical demonstrations and hands-on simulation labs.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan has been a member of the International Federation of Gynecology since 2014. In total, FIGO today includes 130 member societies.

The main goal of the International Federation is to implement the mission of promoting the health and well-being of women around the world, as well as improving the quality of health care. FIGO has more than 10 committees and working groups, whose areas of interest include all current issues in obstetrics and gynecology, and the development of recommendations available to all countries.
