Uzbekistan appoints its first Ambassador to Bahrain
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Nodirjon Turgunov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Bahrain, with residence in Riyadh, has officially presented copies of his credentials to Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, in an online ceremony. This was reported by the Dunyo News Agency.
Following the presentation, the two sides held a discussion on the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan-Bahrain cooperation, and exchanged views on pressing international issues.
Bahrain’s top diplomat praised the wide-ranging reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the country’s president, noting significant achievements in foreign policy and steady economic growth.
He emphasized the historic ties between the two nations and highlighted the strong relationship between their brotherly peoples. Bahrain expressed its readiness to actively contribute to the further strengthening and comprehensive expansion of bilateral relations.
The meeting concluded with the minister wishing the Uzbek ambassador success in his mission to enhance intergovernmental ties.
For reference, Nodirjon Turgunov arrived in Riyadh in March 2024 as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia. In November of the same year, he was also accredited as the country’s permanent representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
