Uzbekistan Appoints Head of Livestock Development Agency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Orif Butaev, chairman of the board of the Microcreditbank joint-stock commercial bank, has been appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and Director of the Agency for Livestock Development and Pasture Management, the presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov said, citing a relevant decree signed by the head of state.
Prior to his new role, Butaev had headed Microcreditbank since 2020. His professional career in Uzbekistan’s financial sector has been closely linked to the Central Bank, where he began working in 2006 after graduating from the Tashkent State University of Economics. In 2012, he completed further studies at the Banking and Finance Academy, specializing in banking and investment management.
Within the Central Bank, Butaev held a series of progressively senior positions, including economist, senior economist and chief economist, as well as sector head and deputy department head. Between 2013 and 2016, he led the department responsible for improving the financial condition of banks. From 2016 to 2018, he headed the department overseeing licensing and regulation of credit institutions. In 2018, he was appointed director of the department managing the state register of credit information, after which he became deputy chairman of the Central Bank.
He later served from 2019 to 2020 as first deputy chairman of the board of Uzpromstroybank before moving to Microcreditbank, where he led the management board from February 2020 to March 2024. Since March 2024, he has continued to act as the bank’s head in an acting capacity.
Orif Butaev was born in 1983 in the Surkhandarya region. In August 2025, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, he was awarded the “Sodiq Khizmatlari Uchun” medal.
