Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has applied to join the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). Grigory Marchenko, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank, told Sputnik about this. 

According to him, the government of Uzbekistan last week asked the bank to accept the republic as a shareholder.

Interest in the EDB has been noticeably growing lately, said Marchenko. In addition to Uzbekistan, Hungary has announced its desire to join the ranks of shareholders. South Korea, Vietnam and Malaysia are also potential participants.
