Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 November 2024, a meeting took place between Ismatulla Irgashev, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, and Akiko Fuji, the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.
During the discussion, the parties addressed the current situation in Afghanistan and the international community’s efforts to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the country.
Particular attention was given to utilizing the transport and logistics hub in Termez for delivering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
The parties also discussed the continuation of a joint project for the education and training of Afghan citizens at the Educational Center in the Surkhandarya region.
Irgashev and Fuji emphasized the importance of further coordinating Uzbekistan’s actions with UN institutions to peacefully resolve the Afghan issue.
The meeting underscored Uzbekistan’s commitment to assisting Afghanistan and strengthening cooperation with international organizations to promote stability and development in the region.
