Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of an international conference held in Geneva, a bilateral meeting took place between the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Khalilillo Turakhuzhaev, and Teresa Moreira, UNCTAD’s Head of Competition and Consumer Policies.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on pressing issues on the current agenda and expressed their mutual commitment to deepening cooperation. Khalilillo Turakhuzhaev put forward a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing institutional collaboration with UNCTAD.

In particular, he proposed conducting an international expert assessment of Uzbekistan’s legislation and state policy in the field of competition with the involvement of UNCTAD specialists. He also suggested developing a Five-Year National Consumer Policy Strategy with methodological support from the organization.

Teresa Moreira welcomed Uzbekistan’s proposals, expressing full support for these initiatives and offering specific recommendations and directions for their practical implementation.
