Uzbekistan and Türkiye: consistency and stability of inter-parliamentary relations will be ensured

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Turkiye Fuat Oktay.

The agenda of the meeting included issues related to inter-parliamentary relations, as well as the expansion of practical cooperation in trade, economic, investment, agricultural, transport, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

It was noted that thanks to official visits and regular dialogues between the leaders of the two countries between Uzbekistan and Turkiye, the bonds of friendship are being strengthened and the level of comprehensive strategic partnership is rising to a new level. The special role of the Uzbek-Turkish Council for Strategic Cooperation in this was emphasized.

It was noted that the growing importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in relations between the two states in recent years, the intensification of regular dialogues and visits contribute to strengthening mutual trust.

An exchange of views took place on the issues of bringing mutual cooperation to a new level between the Inter-Parliamentary Group of the Oliy Majlis on cooperation with the Grand National Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group "Turkiye - Uzbekistan", as well as the implementation of systemic parliamentary control over the implementation of the tasks outlined in the "road maps" adopted on the basis of agreements reached at the highest level.

It was also emphasized that the continuation of the dialogue between the relevant parliamentary committees in the trade, economic, investment, innovation, banking, financial, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other fields meets the parity interests of both countries.

In particular, Fuat Oktay noted the following: “We believe that Uzbekistan for all of us is not only the cradle of a single Turkic civilization, but also a strong state that today plays a strategic role in ensuring peace and security throughout the Central Asian region. The more intensive and active the inter-parliamentary interaction on the development of relations between our countries in various directions, the more effective and stable the results of our bilateral comprehensive dialogue will be. In this light, we place great hopes that fraternal Uzbekistan will soon become a full member of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking States.”

At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on further plans for cooperation between our countries and joint projects
