Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 February, the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with the World Bank practice manager on poverty and equality in the Europe and Central Asia region, Ambar Narayan.

High rates of development of bilateral cooperation were noted. The World Bank’s readiness to continue providing financial and consulting support to Uzbekistan on e-commerce development projects and in other priority sectors of the country’s economy was confirmed.

The bank’s Expanding Global E-Commerce Accessibility (EGATE) program, under which the financial institution will provide Gold Supplier status on Alibaba to 100 companies participating in the EGATE study, has been highly praised. The possibilities of participation of large state-owned companies in this program were discussed.

As a result of the meeting, mutual commitment was confirmed and mechanisms for further interaction were developed.

The parties also agreed to organize a separate panel session dedicated to the development of e-commerce as part of the upcoming Tashkent Investment Forum in May this year.
