Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Khaydarov met with leading economist Martin Meleki and senior economist at the World Bank Marianne Yotti to discuss the development of a strategy for the development of small and medium-sized businesses until 2030.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current work on the development strategy for small and medium-sized businesses. The World Bank mission will hold a series of meetings and seminars with the participation of representatives of government agencies, organizations and entrepreneurs to analyze the main problems and opportunities facing the small and medium-sized business sector in Uzbekistan.

To date, World Bank experts have prepared recommendations on several sections of the strategy and contributed to the formation of a sustainable basis for its further development.

The discussion focused on key aspects of the strategy, such as expanding access to financial services, improving infrastructure, developing the land market, expanding market access, supporting entrepreneurship, improving legal protection and creating a competitive environment.

Cooperation between the Ministry and the World Bank includes collecting opinions and proposals from international organizations, developing directions, discussing each direction specified in the strategy concept, and selecting organizations that will participate in their implementation.

The possibilities of participation of the World Bank team in developing strategies for improving the business environment, access to international markets, financial support for small and medium-sized businesses, green economy and digitalization were also discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation for the successful implementation of a strategy that promotes the sustainable development of small and medium-sized businesses in Uzbekistan.
