Uzbekistan and Thailand discuss issues of developing interregional cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Consul General of Uzbekistan in Thailand Fakhriddin Sultanov met with the Governor of Krabi Province Somchai Harnpakdipatima, Dunyo news agency reported.

Krabi province is located in the south of Thailand. This is one of the leading regions with a predominantly Muslim population, developed halal tourism and agriculture. About six million tourists visit the province every year.

At the meeting, issues of further expansion of trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties and interregional cooperation were discussed.

Uzbek diplomats informed the governor about the modern development of our country, the ongoing large-scale economic reforms, and the investment potential of Uzbekistan.

The governor, for his part, expressed interest in intensifying bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, including in the areas of tourism and trade.

As a result of the negotiations, the development and implementation of a Practical Action Plan for the development of interregional cooperation, including a draft corresponding memorandum between the Fergana region and Krabi, was agreed upon. The plan will also include issues of establishing direct flights between the two countries, organizing a visit of Fergana region delegation to Krabi province, coordinating mutual efforts to create favorable conditions for Uzbek tourists in Thailand and other actions.
