Uzbekistan and Sweden Strengthen Cooperation in IT and Startup Support
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Kamilla Mellander, Director of the Trade Policy Department at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited IT Park Uzbekistan.
The guests were given a presentation and a tour of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Unified Integrator — UZINFOCOM. The delegation familiarized themselves with the advanced infrastructure and the latest innovations in the ICT sector in Uzbekistan.
Achievements in digitalization, efforts to transform the country into an international IT hub, and goals to accelerate digital transformation were showcased. Special attention was given to the innovative products MYID Vision and MYID Palm, developed by UZINFOCOM.
During the visit, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Kamilla Mellander. Shermatov spoke about the ministry’s plans and emphasized that ICT is a key driver of Uzbekistan’s economic development.
The minister also described the Zero Risk program and tax incentives for IT Park residents, as well as introduced the Enterprise Uzbekistan project, which provides a reliable legal framework for foreign companies.
Kamilla Mellander highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s achievements in ICT and acknowledged the ministry’s rapid progress in this area.
The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in developing the startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan and creating conditions for Uzbek startups to enter Swedish markets.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed gratitude for the productive dialogue and hope for long-term and fruitful cooperation.
