Uzbekistan and Shanghai SUS Environment sign a memorandum of cooperation in the field of recycling waste into energy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan and Shanghai SUS Environment signed a memorandum of cooperation in the development and implementation of waste-to-energy projects.

Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov held talks with Chairman of Shanghai SUS Environment Jishen Long. During the meeting, the Chinese side was briefed on the current reforms in the waste management system in Uzbekistan and the problems that need to be solved. The lack of electricity generation systems from waste incineration and the unchanged tariffs for waste disposal services over the past four years were highlighted, which had a negative impact on the economic situation in the sanitation sector. To solve these problems, the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan from 4 January  2024 “On measures to improve the waste management system and reduce their negative impact on the environmental situation” was adopted.

Jishen Long highly praised the reform process in Uzbekistan and expressed the company’s readiness to contribute to resolving these issues.

The result of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Environment of Uzbekistan and the Shanghai SUS Environment company in the field of waste-to-energy processing.

Shanghai SUS Environment is the largest supplier of solid waste incineration plants and a leading developer of integrated municipal solid waste management systems in China. The company has extensive experience and advanced technology, investing in, building and operating state-of-the-art municipal solid waste-to-energy plants.
