Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia’s Asir Region Discuss Expansion of Trade and Economic Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek diplomats met with the ruler of Saudi Arabia’s Asir region, Prince Turki bin Talal Al Saud, in Abha, Dunyo news agency reported.
The Prince noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has strengthened its international standing and has become a venue for major global events. He highlighted the country’s heritage as the home of outstanding scholars who made significant contributions to Islamic civilization and expressed awareness of ongoing reforms.
Special attention was given to Uzbekistan’s government decision to introduce a 30-day visa-free entry for Saudi citizens. According to the regional head, this measure is an important outcome of bilateral cooperation, promoting increased trade turnover and boosting tourism exchanges.
During the meeting, Uzbek diplomats proposed expanding the partnership through establishing sister-city relationships, organizing a delegation visit from Asir to Uzbekistan, and intensifying trade and economic collaboration. Discussions included exporting Uzbek agricultural products and textiles to regional markets, participation of entrepreneurs in investment forums and exhibitions, and strengthening cooperation between chambers of commerce and industry.
Prince Turki bin Talal Al Saud supported the initiatives and expressed readiness to facilitate their implementation. Following the talks, both sides agreed to maintain ongoing coordination between the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the Asir regional leadership to monitor progress on the agreements reached.
