Uzbekistan and Russia to expand railway transportation volumes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Russia have signed an agreement to cooperate on the implementation of the "Agroexpress" accelerated railway transportation project. The agreement was signed during the fifth session of the joint commission of the governments of the two countries held in Tashkent.

The agreement was signed by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Uzbek Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov.

The document establishes the legal framework for the comprehensive implementation of the "Agroexpress" project, which involves the import of Uzbek agricultural products into Russia using fully loaded container trains that include both general-purpose and refrigerated containers.

Maxim Reshetnikov noted that the agreement will provide an international legal basis for increasing trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan, thereby expanding the Russian market for agricultural products of Uzbek origin.

The implementation of the agreement will be carried out by federal executive authorities in Russia and government agencies in Uzbekistan. This will facilitate increased volumes of agricultural product transportation by rail and ensure proper oversight.
