Uzbekistan and Russia discuss cooperation in the customs sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan led by Ambassador Botirzhon Asadov held a meeting with the acting head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia Ruslan Davydov.

The reason for the meeting was the appointment of Zafar Sanginov, Representative of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation. This is the first customs representative of Uzbekistan abroad.

During the meeting, various aspects of trade and economic cooperation were discussed.

It was noted that since 2016, trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan has been growing by 15-20% annually. The task set by the Presidents of the two countries is to increase bilateral trade turnover from US$10 to US$20 billion.

Ambassador Botirjon Asadov noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Russia are at a high level, which creates favorable conditions for the development of cooperation, including cooperation in the field of customs issues, which contributes to the development of trade.

Ruslan Davydov emphasized the strategic partnership with Uzbekistan and expressed his intention to continue to develop relations, including with an emphasis on digital technologies and risk management systems that contribute to the development of trade between countries.

The level of development of customs technologies in Russia and Uzbekistan ensures equal partnerships between customs services, which makes it possible to build projects to ensure secure supply chains in bilateral trade.

The “simplified customs corridor” and Agroexpress projects are being developed, as well as mutual recognition of authorized economic operators.
