Uzbekistan and Russia are implementing new projects worth US$20 billion.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Russia agreed to implement new joint projects in the amount of US$20 billion. This was stated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting of the Council of Regions.

He emphasized that Russia is the main investment and technological partner of Uzbekistan.

“We have more than three thousand Russian companies. We are currently implementing projects in all key sectors, including energy, chemistry, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, agriculture, logistics, textile and food industries, as well as in other areas,” noted the President of Uzbekistan.

Mirziyoyev also noted the expansion of the Khimgrad industrial zone in ] Tashkent region, which was launched jointly with partners from Tatarstan and has a branch in Jizzakh region.

“The total volume of joint projects already exceeds US$45 billion, and this is not the limit,” Mirziyoyev added.

The President of Uzbekistan noted that at the current summit agreements were reached on new cooperation projects worth US$20 billion, of which a quarter is in the regions.

“Among these projects, high-tech polymer production in Khorezm region, a metallurgical plant in Karakalpakstan, a gas processing complex in Kashkadarya region, as well as industrial parks in Bukhara and Navoi regions stand out,” Mirziyoyev noted.

“We also plan to create new joint industrial zones to implement projects with leading enterprises in Russian regions. I am confident that the leaders of the regions of both countries will prepare relevant projects within the framework of our Council,” the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

Vladimir Putin emphasized the rapid development of e-commerce. He noted that at the end of 2023, the total volume of products traded by Uzbek sellers on the Russian online platform Wildberries increased by 93 percent and reached US$418 million. In the near future, Uzbek suppliers will also be able to enter another large Russian marketplace - Ozon.

The President of Russia also noted that more than 3 thousand enterprises with Russian participation are already operating in the Uzbek market, which amounts to every fifth company with foreign capital in the country.

Putin noted the important participation of companies from Tatarstan in modernizing heat supply systems in the Tashkent region and equipping medical universities in Uzbekistan with specialized equipment. 

In addition, Putin emphasized that enterprises in Ivanovo region use high-quality Uzbek raw materials for the production of cotton products and textiles.

Chelyabinsk region supplies automation for the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan, and companies in Novosibirsk region export mining and processing equipment for the extraction and processing of rare earth metals and gold.

Rostov-based Rostselmash organized the assembly production of agricultural machinery on the territory of Uzbekistan, and Russian combines produced at Uzbek factories are in great demand in the markets of third countries.
