Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Russia have agreed on fish catch quotas for 2025, the press center of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan stated.
On January 10, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kahramon Yuldashev held a videoconference with the head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo), Andrey Yakovlev.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects and opportunities for cooperation in the fisheries sector.
An agreement was reached on the allocation of fishing quotas for Uzbekistan in the Far Eastern fishery basin, which will amount to 20,000 tons of pollock and 5,000 tons of herring.
The parties also discussed scientific and technical cooperation in fish farming, the development of joint projects and programs, as well as training personnel for the fisheries industry.
Following the meeting, the final protocol of the first session of the Joint Commission on Fisheries was signed.
The total fish catch quota for Uzbekistan in Russia for 2024 was 50,000 tons of pollock and 20,000 tons of herring.
Rosrybolovstvo and the association "Uzbekbalyksanoat" also agreed to sign an additional agreement on the allocation of fishing quotas.
