Uzbekistan and Qatar Discuss Expanded Strategic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, during which the sides discussed further expansion of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to the Uzbek foreign minister, the talks focused on promising areas of cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment, finance, transport and logistics, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

The parties emphasized the importance of making fuller use of the existing potential of bilateral cooperation, as well as the need to deepen investment ties and accelerate the implementation of joint projects.

Special attention was paid to activating economic contacts and promoting new initiatives between the business communities of the two countries.

The Uzbek side also invited Qatar to take an active part in the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, which will be held in June this year in Tashkent.

The talks took place against the backdrop of continued strengthening of economic ties between Uzbekistan and the countries of the Gulf region, including the development of investment and infrastructure cooperation.
