Uzbekistan and Nizhny Novgorod Region Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Economy and Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan, led by Consul General Nodirjon Kasimov, visited Nizhny Novgorod Region on a working trip.

The main goal of the visit was to strengthen ties between the region and Uzbekistan, as well as to develop trade, economic, educational, and cultural cooperation.

During the trip, the delegation met with Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Gneushev. The meeting was attended by regional government representatives, including ministers of international and interregional relations, tourism and crafts, industry and trade, as well as officials from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the regional labor and employment office.

Andrey Gneushev noted that Uzbekistan is an important partner for the region across many areas. “We have long-established close ties, and agreements on cooperation have been signed with several regions. We highly value our fruitful collaboration, which continues to develop dynamically. Our goal is to further strengthen partnership, especially in trade, economic, and educational spheres,” he said.

Education was a key topic of discussion. Minister of International and Interregional Relations Olga Guseva highlighted that over 1,500 Uzbek students are currently studying in universities in Nizhny Novgorod Region, accounting for one-fifth of all foreign students. She added that about 60 agreements have been signed between universities of the two countries, and the active participation of Uzbek students in international forums and cultural events in the region demonstrates the development of intercultural ties.

Consul General of Uzbekistan in Kazan Nodirjon Kasimov expressed appreciation to the host side and emphasized that Tashkent attaches special importance to interregional cooperation. “Cooperation under signed agreements, covering key aspects of trade, economic, and scientific-humanitarian interaction, continues to develop steadily. We are ready to contribute to its further strengthening,” he stressed.

During the visit, the delegation laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, visited the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, and explored the city’s landmarks.

Additional meetings are planned with regional entrepreneurs interested in expanding partnerships and launching new joint projects.
