Uzbekistan and Malaysia’s MDA Expand Medical Device Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has held talks with representatives of Malaysia’s Medical Device Authority (MDA) to expand cooperation in the field of medical devices and develop regulatory systems in the sector.
The discussions also focused on cooperation with the innovative pharmaceutical cluster Tashkent Pharma Park.
The foreign delegation was introduced to the cluster’s activities, including production facilities under development, research centers, and laboratory complexes aimed at advancing the pharmaceutical and medical industries.
The main part of the talks took place at the Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center, where an official meeting was held between the Center’s Director Alisher Temirov and MDA Chief Executive Officer Dr. M. Paramasoo, along with sector specialists.
The parties reviewed the implementation of a previously signed memorandum of understanding and discussed further steps to deepen cooperation.
Special attention was given to an upcoming mission of MDA experts, scheduled to begin work in June of this year.
Malaysian specialists plan to provide technical support, participate in benchmarking international practices, and prepare recommendations for improving the regulatory framework for medical devices.
Discussions also covered the development of laboratory infrastructure and training of qualified personnel.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to conduct inter-laboratory comparative testing and to organize training and internship programs for Uzbek specialists at MDA facilities.
