Uzbekistan and Malaysia to establish cooperation in the leather and footwear industry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A government delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov paid a visit to Malaysia. An Uzbek-Malaysian business forum was held in Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association, Akbar Sultanov presented the potential of the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan, the achievements of recent years, industry growth indicators, attraction of international brands, and promising investment projects at the forum.

On the sidelines of the business forum, a meeting was held with the President of the Malaysian Federation of Manufacturers, as well as the Committee on Export and International Business, Dato Goh Boon Kim. During the negotiations, the parties agreed to establish close cooperation and sign a memorandum that would consolidate the oral agreements. The Malaysian partner also expressed a desire to visit Uzbekistan with a delegation of manufacturers in April this year and establish comprehensive cooperation.

Meetings were also held with the general manager of the Asia-Pacific Franchising Confederation, Logarasan Anbarasan and Malaysian medical companies Prife International SDN BHD. During the dialogue, these companies expressed interest in purchasing orthopedic shoes produced in Uzbekistan. In the near future, entrepreneurs plan to visit Uzbekistan to study the quality of the shoes we produce.

And during the dialogue with the President of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dato Sohaimi Shahadan, detailed information was provided about the investment, industrial and export potential of the industry, and samples of finished leather were provided.

Negotiations were held with the director of the Prince Learning Center Nasir Khusin on the organization of joint courses on training and retraining of personnel for the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan.

As part of the business forum, a conversation took place with the founder of the financial company MRP, Francis Chin. During the discussion, issues of investing in the leather and footwear sector of Uzbekistan were discussed.

And at a meeting with the president of the Malaysian Women’s Association, Sherry Aljunied, the parties discussed the possibility of supplying designer shoes and leather goods to Malaysia.
