Uzbekistan and Malaysia discuss issues of developing inter-parliamentary cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 June 2024, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismoilov met with a delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

At the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan and Malaysia are connected by historical relations, similarity of cultures, traditions and spiritual values. In recent years, thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries, relations have reached a new level. In particular, trade volumes are increasing, joint projects are being implemented in various sectors of the economy and programs in the field of pilgrimage tourism.

At the meeting, the similarity of goals and objectives of the strategic development and modernization programs “Uzbekistan - 2030” and “Malaysia Madani” was emphasized. Members of the delegation were introduced to the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the activities of the Legislative Chamber, including rule-making work, working methods of factions of political parties and committees, as well as innovations in the field of parliamentarism.

During the constructive dialogue, the gradual development of bilateral relations and the intensification of political and economic dialogue between the countries were positively assessed.

Issues of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, including education, information and communication technologies, culture and sports were discussed.

The Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted the importance of further expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation as a key factor in the development of bilateral relations. The parties agreed on the further development and strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation.
